A poem about my heart

My Heart is Slippery

You say our relationship was always meant to be fleeting

I say my heart is too big with destructive amounts of wonder

I could've imagined a forever.

My love is limitless and cavernous

I often let it slip and crash like the sound of a mirror

colliding on carpet. That quickly I morph

from disinterest to letting myself fall

into pieces. Some bits doubt.

Some bits are tranquil in the mess

that is my heart.

Some bits replay the memories of when

my mind sparkled in your existence

some bits replay the moments where my mind

was too afraid to get close to yours.

So I sneak in within.

Piece myself back together.

Remember that my heart is just too big

heavy, and slippery.

One day I will be someone who will

manage to catch it and somehow not let go.

One day I will stop myself from falling.

And choose to be close instead.

Observe your heart as much as I do with mine.
